Twitter is for the Birds!

I'd rather be up on the mountain top listening to the birds twittering and singing. Just didn't see the use of twitter. Why talk about it when you can be doing it!!! The site didn't even give a tour! Exploring on your own is usually fun but in this case I lost patience with the babble.
So I'm Singing in the Rain and climbing my way out of this CPL 2.0 trek.

Around the World on the wings of LibraryThing

Around the world in 80 days is probably enough to figure out LibraryThing. It is an amazing site that I would use personally to record my favourite reading material or projected dreams of reading. If's full of information (Zeitgeist) about top 50's etc..author, genre, titles. Or you can select a personal favourite of the day (The Patience Stone) and weigh in all the related works suggested for additional reads. Talk sites, reviews, chats can all drive you down unexplored trails to new adventures. It's a great site - I would use it personally, recommend it to the public as a means of perusing new books with brief descriptions to entice. It is rather busy and detailed but perserverence and patience will lead you through winding and interesting avenues. I found that The Patience Stone has 12 different covers - depending on what country it's sold in!

I really like the suggested reads following the title details in case one is interested in that particular type of novel, character, settting etc.... I guess I'm nearing the end of my travels and could sit down a while with LibraryThing to find an armchair and a good accompanying book.

Planning the next cloud walking adventure in South America

Time for planning the next trip. Gaucho in Uruguay, Herbalist/Shaman in Brazil...Surfing Nicaragua....Need to use Google docs which is just terrific for a budget sheet, spreadsheets, resume (for that job in Ecuador) or even a calendar to plan where I'll be and when!!! Don't need the daily calendar option - spur of the moment person (My water bottle is my date calendar - ask Chris. B.) Don't like to be tied down with calendar functions everywhere. But GOOGLE DOCS can be very usefu for those special occasions! And yes, they're so good they probably will replace the MS Office - no updates needed. Happy Trails!

Tubing down the Colorado River

I decided to run the Grand Canyon via the river route. I tied my trusty burro to a cactus bush and left my hiking boots in the saddle bag. I have this all on Flickr if you're intested in browsing the array of photographs one can't help but take. Shooting the river takes on a whole new form.
You Tube is great for those action scenes. During the capsize I lost my whole video but no worries...the hikers got it on theirs. Check it out! It's simple, whether Flickr or You Tube! Love the sites when bangs and bruises keep me chair-bound afterwards!

RSS = Really simple slidingsled

Time to rest. My travels are making me a little road weary. So to make things easier and simpler I just have to open my pack and quickly glance at where I'm going next...my favourite places in a nutshell! Quick and handy for those times a rhinoceros is getting edgy and kicking up the dirt....or the buffalo is taking aim....run, run for your life....grab the RSS special edition ,cocked and ready and speed away into your happy place. Fast.

I have BBC world news to get me on track, CBC to flights of fancy and the Calgary Herald to slow me down while I wait for danger to pass.

FROM CLIMBING WALL TO WALL STREET

More, more, more. Google is a journey within a journey. And with all travels, likes and dislikes, obstacles and pinnacles. During this trek I discovered a spot that really surprised me...Google Finance and I stayed there a while to absorb all its wondrous scenery. I'd highly recommend it for current events in the busy marketplace throughout the globe...Canada, HongKong, China , USA.

I didn't get a chance to explore Google Earth but have done so on other vacations and recommend it to all those travel buffs for views from beyond when sitting on the behind.

Didn't like Google Chrome - seemed to miss the bus at that stop and it couldn't give me much information about the Coyote Healing I was trying to connect with.

I will add a howl for Google Scholar and in summary will reommend most of Google (especially Google Maps) to fellow travelers on the giant web of life. aka internet. as a further resource to explore and utilize.

The Climbing Wall at Facebook ,USA

I like the mission statement of Facebook "to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected." No wonder teens and younger and older generations flock to this site in a world which is increasingly impersonal and there is the feeling of disconnect. So "Connection" is the key word here and why Facebook works so well.

I don't have the time or need for Facebook right now....maybe when I'm old and grey!
